Longitudinal software architecture study reveals insights into code traceability and metacontrol mechanisms.
This preprint presents a longitudinal software architecture study of the Nemosine Nous System, documenting its transition from a prompt-based persona framework to an auditable cognitive runtime. The study introduces a patent-to-code traceability method, adapted from software reflexion models, to examine how architectural principles described in the Brazilian patent application BR 10 2025 023894 2 were progressively translated into executable software mechanisms. The analyzed runtime separates language-model generation from metacontrol through structured claim extraction, factual and normative evaluation, operational coherence scoring, bounded revision, promotion gating, persistence controls, and redacted audit logging. Specialized functions associated with the Scientist, Vigia, Philosopher, and Orchestrator are examined not as autonomous agents, but as software responsibilities capable of altering execution, blocking delivery, authorizing revision, or producing failed-safe outcomes. The paper also describes the Machine Room observability interface and identifies decision provenance, non-bypassable promotion paths, evaluator separation, and governed delivery as central requirements for auditable LLM systems. The contribution is an implementation-grounded account of how symbolic cognitive roles can become inspectable mechanisms of software governance, without attributing consciousness, independent agency, or full self-modeling to the system.
