The dominant thought that evolved was that chemically defined substances could be found which would have a selective deleterious effect on the parasite. He originated the famous "magic bullet" metaphor for destruction of the parasite without injury to the tissue cell. Although the ideal result would have been complete destruction of the invader and complete lack of effect on the host, Ehrlich...References1.
