Among the special immunological methods which have been profitably applied to marine population problems are immunodiffusion methods for the study of soluble antigens and the use of fish as antibody producers. Evidence is presented that cold water fishes produce antibody at significant rates below IO⚬C. indicating that they can be used profitably for immunization and isoimmunization. Isoimmune sera produced in trout have been used to detect individual differences in species of Pacific salmon.
