Mixed-methods study finds blended learning enhances competencies in early childhood education professionals, suggesting digital tools are key to effective training.
This study employs an explanatory sequential embedded mixed-methods methodology to explore a flexible blended learning format for professional development in early childhood education. It incorporates a digital reflecting board and generative AI (ChatGPT) for learning analytics, focusing on language teaching and construction. The trainer retains pedagogical responsibility while using AI to adjust synchronous sessions based on content, participation, and group composition, aligning with Bloom's updated taxonomy. Perceived practical relevance showed significant improvement, with median scores rising notably. However, post-course evaluations assessed the format's ability to promote learning less favorably. Qualitative insights from participant reflections supplemented the analysis, although drawbacks included a self-selected and small sample reliant on self-reported perceptions. The findings suggest that adequate time, digital infrastructure, and supportive leadership can enhance professional engagement and learning application.
