The thermally activated double-kink formation in a glide dislocation in a one-dimensional period field is re-examined. It is found that when the applied stress [sgrave] becomes close to the maximum stress [sgrave]m, the asymptotic form of the activation energy varies as (1 [sgrave]/[sgrave]m)5/4; this is in good agreement with the available experimental data.
