The chiral triphosphine ligand ( S, S )-PhP(CH 2 CHMeCH 2 PPh 2 ) 2, ttp*, was synthesized by the reaction of ( S )-Ph 2 PCH 2 CHMeCH 2 Cl and PhPH 2 in the presence of LDA. Reactions of ttp* with RuCl 2 (PPh 3 ) 3, [RhCl(COD)] 2, and CoCl 2 produced RuCl 2 (ttp*), RhCl(ttp*), and CoCl 2 (ttp*), respectively. These compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy. The structure of RhCl(ttp*) has been determined by X-ray diffraction.
