Proximal interstitial pregnancy resection exclusively using hysteroscopic resectoscope

Approximately 1% of all ectopic pregnancies are located within the uterine interstitial space or cornua. The mortality rate has been reported as 2%-2.5% if left untreated. Traditional treatment of interstitial pregnancy includes methotrexate medical management, interstitial wedge resection or cornuostomy. We present a case of hysteroscopic resection of an interstitial pregnancy using a hysteroscopic resectoscope in a woman in her 20s, gravida 2, para 1 at 6 weeks of gestation who presented to the emergency room for vaginal bleeding. She was diagnosed by ultrasound with an interstitial ectopic pregnancy. Given the patient's desired future fertility, resection was performed using a hysteroscopic resectoscope with minimal blood loss. The patient achieved a future pregnancy. We conclude that a hysteroscopic resectoscope may be used for the treatment of an unruptured interstitial ectopic pregnancy.
