Debriefing is a widely used reflective practice essential for learning, performance improvement, and safety assurance in domains, such as aviation and healthcare. Despite its recognized value, traditional debriefing approaches often face limitations in efficiency and consistency. For example, although tools, such as video recordings, are often used, the process still depends on instructors delivering spoken or written feedback to the trainees. This feedback is commonly recorded using assessment or evaluation forms, but the lack of an independent note-taker can result in important observations being missed. Recent developments in artificial intelligence (AI) provide new opportunities to transform how debriefings are conducted, analyzed, and utilized. These tools can assist in automating documentation, enhancing feedback quality, tracking performance, and facilitating personalized learning experiences. Hence, this paper explores the integration of AI technologies into debriefing processes, using the aviation context as an example, highlighting their potential benefits and directions for future research and application.
