Investigates how friends respond to IPV disclosures among emerging adults, highlighting the effects on survivors' experiences.
This study investigated the nature and impact of friends’ responses to disclosures of IPV among emerging adults. The primary objective was to identify the most common types of friend responses and to assess their influence on survivors’ subjective experiences of disclosure. To achieve this, we modified and expanded Ullman's Social Reactions Questionnaire and added two additional subscales (i.e., minimization and encouragement of relationship termination). A new measure of survivors’ subjective experiences was also developed for the study.
