Evaluates vibration control in large wind turbines, indicating improved dynamic response.
Carbon neutrality and green energy development are global priorities, with wind energy occupying a prominent position in the green power structure. However, wind turbine failures and economic losses have attracted increasing industry attention, leading to more research on wind turbine dynamic characteristics. While many scholars have focused on torsional vibration research and used passive control methods for vibration reduction, this paper proposes an active control method combining variable structure sliding mode control and model predictive control with harmonic suppression. We establish a coupled model of the electromechanical drive chain control system of a large semi-direct drive wind turbine, including subsystems such as the gear set, power system, and control system. Our goal is to reduce wind turbine vibration response. To evaluate the effectiveness of the new control strategy on reducing drive chain vibration and improving generator dynamic response, we analyze the vibration response of the main drive chain components, generator current, electromagnetic torque, and rotor speed response. The results demonstrate that the new control strategy effectively improves the dynamic response of the generator and reduces drive chain vibration.
