Purpose Grounded in the knowledge integration capability framework, this study aims to investigate how internal corporate social responsibility (ICSR) influences task performance (TP) through the mediating roles of expertise integration (EI) and team coordination, and the moderating effects of goal clarity (GC) and job complexity (JC). Design/methodology/approach This study uses covariance-based structural equation modeling. Data were collected from 284 professionals across diverse sectors using purposive sampling via the Prolific Academic platform. Findings The findings show that Internal CSR significantly enhances EI and team coordination, while its direct relationship with TP is negative. Both EI and team coordination mediate the ICSR-performance relationship, with evidence of a sequential mediation effect. Furthermore, GC strengthens the positive link between coordination and TP, while JC does not significantly moderate the relationship between ICSR and coordination. Originality/value By bridging the domains of corporate social responsibility and knowledge management, this research provides a novel framework for understanding how socially responsible internal practices contribute to employee TP through knowledge-based pathways.
