This report demonstrates pathogenicity of Colletotrichum nymphaeae in strawberries, indicating its potential threat to crops in Greece.
Pathogenicity on detached strawberry leaves and fruits was confirmed following the procedures described in Karimi et al. (2019) andFernandez et al. (2024).Eight days post inoculation symptoms like those observed in the field were developed and C. nymphaeae was consistently re-isolated.Control tissues remained symptomless. To our knowledge, this is the first report of anthracnose caused by C. nymphaeae in strawberry plants and fruits in Greece.
