Validation study compares multiangular reflectance simulations against airborne imaging spectroscopy over forested terrain, demonstrating the utility of coupled atmospheric-vegetation models.
At Vito, the 6S/CSAR models are used to calculate at‐sensor and at‐surface bi‐directional reflectances for airborne sensors. To assess the performance of 6S/CSAR, a field measurement campaign was organised with DLR's DAIS 7915 hyperspectral spectrometer on June 20th 1998 over an experimental forest in Belgium. Simultaneous ground measurements were carried out with the DAIS 7915 overflights to enable atmospheric correction. This paper focuses on the simulation of paper reference target multiangular reflectances and on how these simulations compare with DAIS multiangular measurements.
