The article includes interviews with the founders of Elles: Hend Salem and Rajai Moussa, and the workshop instructors, Nermin Nizar and Hussein El-Hajj. Some of the addressed topics were Elles’ founding and its contributions to the literary, cultural and social landscapes of Egypt through the dissemination of local, regional and transnational feminist epistemologies and ontologies. Furthermore, the logistics of the workshop, thematic and textual selection and their choice to translate hooks, Davis and Silvia Federici constituted additional discussion topics. The article also explores the collaborative process of transnational feminist translation, feminist translation strategies and key developments between the first and second workshops. The article concludes on the possibility of inaugurating a school of Egyptian feminist translation grounded in the intersection of local knowledges and transnational theories of feminist translations.
