New species describes unique characteristics of Petrocosmea wentsaii in limestone caves, suggesting biodiversity significance.
Petrocosmea wentsaii M.Q. Han, Miao.M. Wang & Yan Liu, a new species from Guizhou, China, is described and illustrated. Petrocosmea wentsaii was found on damp walls in a huge limestone cave. It is most similar to Petrocosmea hexiensis S.Z. Zhang & Z.Y. Liu in the conformation of the corolla. However, the new species differs from the latter in that its adaxial lip lobes are extremely short, the stamens are glabrous and slightly curved in the middle, and the length of the stamens is two to three times the length of the anthers.
