Background: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogeneous, highly prevalent metabolic and endocrine disorder known worldwide to have a devastating effect on women of reproductive age. Biochemically, the syndrome is characterised by a set of metabolic disturbances, mainly insulin resistance, hyperandrogenism and chronic anovulation. Potential long-term health implications include increased risk of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, cardiovascular disease and endometrial hyperplasia. Despite this, fundamental awareness amongst vulnerable demographics remains critically deficient. Objectives: The present study aims to assess the baseline level of awareness of PCOS among female college students of Bharuch district of Gujarat.
