The therapeutic landscape for alopecia areata (AA) is changing with the introduction of new therapeutic options, particularly the Janus kinase inhibitors. However, there is uncertainty from UK dermatologists around safe prescribing and the longer-term risk of these therapies. GRASS-UK (the Global Register of Alopecia areata disease Severity and treatment Safety – United Kingdom) is a national prospective AA disease register that will use real-world data to compare emerging therapies with existing treatments to better understand the safety and effectiveness of these new agents as they come to market.
