Investigates dielectric response in Bi4Ti3O12/PVDF nanocomposites, suggesting phase engineering for energy storage.
This study investigates role of an electro active β phase in governing the dielectric response of Bi 4 Ti 3 O 12 (BiTO)/PVDF nanocomposites. Composite films with varying loading of BITO (1-5 wt%) were fabricated with a solution casting technique. Structural analysis with X-ray and phase analysis using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy revealed a progressive transformation from a non-polar alpha phase to electroactive β phase. Dielectric studies were carried out over the frequency range of 10 3 -10 6 Hz demonstrated a strong dependence on both filler composition and frequency range. An improvement in dielectric constant is observed with filler of BiTO (5 wt%) loading into PVDF with dielectric constant (5.90) reaching upto maximum value of 44.62 at 1 KHz. attributed to the combine effect of interfacial polarization and enhanced dipolar polarization arising due to existing β phase content. Overall, this study highlighting the importance of phase engineering of BiTO/ PVDF nanocomposite for energy storage.
