I have regarded my work as editor of the Journal of Pediatric Psychology as a very gratifying professional opportunity and privilege, a once in a lifetime opportunity to give back to, and, in the process, help to shape the scientific scholarly directions of a field that has been my primary professional home during my entire career, now spanning >40 years. In this Vale Dictum, I summarize some key goals and accomplishments, relevant issues in the process, data concerning the content of JPP during my editorial tenure, and my thoughts on future directions for the field.
