CONTROL algorithms were developed for guiding tractor-implement combinations such that the implement followed a desired path. The algorithms, which were based on constant-turn geometric relationships, were evaluated through the use of computer simulation techniques. Machine combinations considered were a front-steered tractor with a towed implement, a rear-steered machine with a front-mounted implement, and an articulated tractor with a towed implement. Results of the simulation indicated that machines may be successfully guided using mathematical relationships associated with the constant-turn geometry concept.
