Puckered square grid coordination polymers [M(dps) 2 ]X (M = Cu(I), X = ClO 4 ( 1 ), PF 6 ( 2 ); M = Ag(I), X = PF 6 ( 3 ), CF 3 SO 3 ( 4 ); dps = 4,4‘-dipyridylsulfide) have been synthesized and characterized in the solid state by X-ray crystallography. Of these, the cations in 3 and 4 were found to interpenetrate while 1 and 2 were not. However, the anions greatly influence the conformation of the puckered square grids in 1 and 2 .
