Infinite pores! Three structurally and topologically distinct infinite coordination-polymer (ICP) materials are synthesized from 1,12-dihydroxycarbonyl-1,12-dicarba-closo-dodecaborane and CoII salts (see image). All three have markedly different porosities and, consequently, different N2, H2, and CO2 uptakes. This work emphasizes the importance of morphological control in tailoring the properties of ICP structures.
