The light scattering patterns from anisotropic rods have been calculated as a function of the degree of volume filling by these rods, and also as functions of their orientation distribution and the resulting birefringence effect in biaxially oriented polymer films. The resultant theoretical calculations compare well with available experimental results and, thus, demonstrate their applicability to the study of the course of crystallization and the structural characterization of biaxially oriented polymer films.
