The only non-zero dc electro-optic (or Pockel’s) coefficient in tellurium dioxide was measured at constant stress. The result was rT41 = −0.76 (±0.19)×10−12m/V. The secondary electro-optic effect, due to the converse piezoelectric and photoelastic effects, is approximately twice the observed electro-optic response.
