Recently derived approximate analytical solutions of the Thomas–Fermi (TF) and Thomas–Fermi–Dirac (TFD) equations, together with the latter's analytical extension involving the correlation effect, are used for calculating the diamagnetic susceptibilities of Ar, Kr, and Xe. It is concluded that the agreement of the calculated susceptibilities with experimental data, especially in the case of the TFD model, is comparable in accuracy with quantum-mechanical calculations.
