Measuring the diffusion coefficients or rhizosphere exudates in soil. II. The diffusion of sorbing compounds

SUMMARY A mathematical model was developed which was capable of simulating the diffusion of compounds with a concentration‐dependent diffusion coefficient, by virtue of their sorption on the solid phase of the soil. Methods were developed which allowed the sorption characteristics and the effective diffusion coefficient of several organic compounds to be inferred from their measured diffusion profiles.
