It appears in man both as a relatively benign dermatologic infection and as a malignant, widely disseminated systemic disease that has predilection for lungs, bones and subcutaneous tissue. The cutaneous form has been successfully treated with iodides, radiation and excision.1The systemic form has been notoriously resistant to therapy and associated with a high mortality.2Both types have been characterized by chronicity and periods of indolence and exacerbation, with recurrence after prolonged periods of clinical inactivity or cure.2, 3Fulminant, rapidly fatal pulmonary...Bibliography1.
