Second harmonic generation (SHG) using a continuously pumped Nd:YAlG laser operating at a fundamental wavelength of 1.32 μ is described. Ba2NaNb5O15 is used for intracavity conversion to 0.66 μ. A cw output power at 0.66 μ of 77 mW in a TEM00 mode with a conversion efficiency of 70% was obtained. Repetitively Q switching the laser with an acousto-optic loss modulator yielded an output power of 28 W in a TEM00 mode at 1 kHz.
