Rate constants for the reactions of hydrogen atoms with NO 2 ( k 2 ) and NOCl ( k 2 ) have been determined in a discharge flow system using the detection of H atoms by Lyman‐α resonance fluorescence. From temperature dependent measurements in the range T = 240 – 460 K the Arrhenius expressions (in units of cm 3 /mol · s) k 1 = (4.3 ± 1.8) 10 14 exp(–4.2 ± 0.7 kJ mol −1 / RT ) and k 2 = (4.6 ± 1.2) 10 13 exp(–3.8 ± 0.6 kJ mor −1 / RT ) could be obtained.
