A novel optical feedback effect on pulsed injection lasers, self-modulation of light outputs, has been observed. The results are interpreted in terms of the temporal Q -factor modulation of compound cavity lasers. The transient thermal response of injection lasers has been measured utilizing the newly-discovered phenomena.
