A procedure is developed for resolving a time sequence of overlapping echo signals and estimating an a priori unknown number of echoes present in the sequence. The proposed receiver structure is an extension of the conventional narrow-band matched filter envelope detector. Computer simulation results are presented which show the feasibility and satisfactory performance of the receiver proposed.
