We have used the functional-integral method (FIM) to formulate a theory of bound magnetic polarons (BMP's) in semimagnetic semiconductors. If we neglect the time fluctuations of the auxiliary vector fields introduced in the FIM, namely, within the static approximation of the FIM, our results reduce to the presently existing theories of BMP's in which the spin fluctuations play the crucial role. The spin-flip Raman-scattering spectrum is also derived with the FIM. Again, within the scope of static approximation our results reproduce the existing theoretical calculations.
