Excited terminal states of bound exciton complexes in CdSe have been studied. From these studies, information relating to donor impurities in this material has been gained. Donor ionization energies of 0.018 eV were calculated from the effective-mass approximation. Using an electron effective mass of 0.13mₑ gives a good theoretical fit to the $n=2$ magnetically field-split levels using the model of Wheeler and Dimmock. This mass value agrees well with the electron effective mass determined by Wheeler and Dimmock for the free-exciton case in CdSe.
