Adrenal venous sampling (AVS) is the gold-standard etiological diagnostic test in primary aldosteronism, however, it is costly, difficult and hard to popularize. Searching for the alternative of AVS is hot in clinic. Some scholars try to replace AVS with CT, MR, 131I-6β- methyliodized cholesterol adrenal scan (NP-59) and PET-CT, or try to predict the subtype of primary aldosteronism by test indices and clinical models. Unfortunately, there is no obvious evidence that these noninvasive methods can replace AVS, but they can be references to the unit which can not carry out AVS.
