This case report highlights a rare association between haemophilus meningitis and pericardial effusion, with symptoms resolving after diuretic administration.
SYNOPSIS A case of haemophilus meningitis complicated by pericardial effusion is described. This association has been reported only once previously. Clinical features suggesting acute constrictive pericarditis developed, but resolved during administration of diuretics. The difficulty in distinguishing acute constrictive pericarditis from pericardial tamponade is discussed.
