In individuals with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, the severity of illness ranges from asymptomatic to fatal.1 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention currently list asthma as a risk factor for severe illness from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).2 This is a logical determination because the non–COVID-19 literature indicates that patients with asthma have increased susceptibility to viral respiratory infections.3 In addition, case series of patients with COVID-19 have reported that the asthma prevalence is higher4 or nondifferent5 in more severe cases.
