A nest aggregation of Epicharis zonata in coastal French Guiana was periodically examined from October 1976 to August 1977. There is only one generation per year; adults emerge and nest during the dry season. Waterproof cells constructed in level, sandy soil were well beneath the water table during the west season. Prepupae passed at least nine months within the cells.
