A model is proposed for the non-stationary radiation-enhanced diffusion in metals containing a significant concentration of unsaturable sinks for radiation point defects. By measuring the change of resistivity at −197 °C, ordering in the cold-worked samples of the Ag-8.75 at% Zn alloy was investigated under 2.3 MeV electron irradiation with flux of 9.35 × 1012 to 3.74 × 1013 cm−2 s−1 at temperatures from 10 to 35 °C. It is found that the radiation-enhanced diffusion in metals containing a considerable number of dislocations (unsaturable sinks) is a non-stationary process with a diffusion coefficient gradually decreasing with time in accordance with the equation derived for the non-stationary radiation diffusion. The validity of the model proposed for the non-stationary radiation-enhanced diffusion controlled by the motion of interstitials is confirmed also by the fact that the radiation ordering is temperature-independent and proportional to the square root of irradiation flux.
