A technique based on the use of Fourier analysis is suggested for the computation of the frequency distribution function of a crystal. The method has been applied to some two- and three-dimensional lattice models and it is shown that, compared with the usual methods, the present method saves time and labour with the added advantage of giving an analytic expression for the distribution function.
