Background. A sense of satisfaction with life, positive feelings and lack of negative emotions are the 3 important elements of subjective well-being. Objectives. The study was conducted to analyze the life satisfaction and the impact of sociodemographic and work environment factors affecting satisfaction with life in the context of professional life of nurses. Material and methods. The study included 110 nurses. A survey questionnaire developed by the author was used to measure the variables; it contained questions about the sociodemographic and work environment data. To study the sense of satisfaction with life, SWLS was used. The empirical material was analyzed statistically. The level of significance was set at p < 0.05. Results. The overall satisfaction with life rate among nurses was 21 ±5 and it was comparable to the results obtained during testing. In the study group, 35.45% of the respondents described their level of satisfaction with life as mediocre and the same percentage (35.45%) considered it as high. It was found that factors such as marital status (p < 0.02), education level (p < 0.005), material situation (p < 0.002), relationships with colleagues (p < 0.0001) and relations with the supervisor (p < 0.009) had a statistically significant influence on the level of life satisfaction. Age, place of residence, form of employment, years of experience, and work system had no significant impact on the sense of life satisfaction among nurses. Conclusions. The level of satisfaction with life is mainly influenced by factors related to the working environment, such as poor financial situation, interpersonal relationships in the workplace and relations with the immediate supervisor.
