Abstract— —A substance resembling catecholamine found in chick hearts during the early stages of embryologic development was identified as DOPA. Cell cultures and fluorescence microscopy indicated intracellular location of this substance in myocardial cells. The absence of nerve tissue in the cell cultures was demonstrated by electron microscopy.
