In a preliminary report on the life cycle of a cestode of the mouse the author (Rendtorff, 1939) stated that the tapeworm closely resembled members of the Anoplocephalan genus Oochoristica. Further investigations and particularly the discovery that the rat can also serve as the definitive host led to the conclusion that this tapeworm is OQchoristica ratti Yamaguti and Miyata, 1937. The specimens from which they described the species taken by Yamaguti and Miyata from the small intestine of Rattus rattus rattus and R. r. alexandrinus captured aboard Taiwan and Shanghai liners.
