In May 2025, the 25th WHO Expert Committee on the Selection and Use of Essential Medicines gathered in Geneva to revise and update the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines (EML). According to the procedure, the meeting is preceded by an open call whereby institutions, scientific organisations, pharmaceutical companies, and individuals can submit applications for the addition or deletion of medicines on the EML, as well as for amendments to therapeutic indications. After being checked by the EML secretariat, applications become publicly available for comments before the Expert Committee’s examination.
