Experimental study demonstrates reduced overpotentials using iron-nickel oxide embedded in graphene for water splitting, highlighting improved efficiency in clean hydrogen generation.
This study probes into the intricate subject of electro-catalysis and reveals the effectiveness of several catalyst compositions in OER (Oxygen Evolution Reactions) and HER (Hydrogen Evolution Reactions), including: MnNiO@rGO, MnNiO@C3N4, FeNiO@C3N4, and FeNiO@rGO. Surface morphologies are clearly shown, and a range of analytical techniques, such as: FTIR, SEM and TGA are used to confirm the successful synthesis of materials. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy and Linear Sweep Voltammetry present a detailed explanation of charge transfer kinetics and over-potential values, demonstrating the effective HER kinetics of FeNiO@rGO and the good OER performance of MnNiO@rGO. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and Linear Sweep Voltammetry (LSV) provide comprehensive information on charge transfer kinetics, over-potential values of FeNiO@rGO for HER kinetics and MnNiO@rGO for OER performance. Among the catalysts examined, FeNiO@rGO showed the lowest OER (360 mV) and comparatively lower HER (460 mV) overpotentials, indicating great efficiency in water splitting processes.
