Alerts clinicians to constrictive pericarditis risk after mediastinal irradiation; leaves open causality pending larger studies.
Constrictive pericarditis was found in a patient receiving mediastinal irradiation for metastatic seminoma. The gradual onset of symptoms following irradiation, together with the absence of features commonly associated with the more common causes of constrictive pericarditis, are highly suggestive of a causal relationship.
