Positive gain measurements on the 470-nm continuum band of CdHg

Optical gain has been observed on the 470-nm continuum band of CdHg following the flashlamp excitation of vapor mixtures of Cd and Hg. An argon ion laser was used to monitor gain signals at wavelengths ranging from 457.9 to 514.5 nm.
