This paper presents a new approach to the realization of dual‐band operation in a single printed‐dipole antenna by incorporating compact resonant cell (CRC) structures. A dual‐band antenna that operates at 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz is constructed to illustrate the design methodology. The overall length of the proposed antenna is reduced by 12%, in comparison with that of the conventional design.
