A case of a young girl with malignant sacrococcygeal teratoma was reported with special reference to serum alpha fetoprotein and chemotherapeutic effect of Adriamycin. Irrespective of the conventional chemotherapy and radiation therapy given in another hospital, repeated intravenous administration of Adriamycin of 20 mg/m2 per dose demonstrated a very good response both in terms of the clinical condition and the value of alpha fetoprotein in serum. But the latter which had once fallen within normal limits on radioimmuno assay, did not remain suppressed but rose again. From this fact, it was observed that the diminution of serum alpha fetoprotein value to normal range does not seem to necessarily guarantee the complete cure of the disease.
