In this paper we are concerned with stability problems for infinite dimensional systems. First we review the theory for linear systems where the dynamics are governed by strongly continuous semigroups and then use these results to obtain globial existence and stability results for nonlinear systems. We also consider the problem of designing feedback controls to enhance the stability properties of a system.
