The change in the internal friction of copper was measured during warm-up of specimens after electron irradiation near 10°K. The damping was found to decrease between 33°K and 55°K. The decrease is attributed to a defect becoming mobile in this temperature range, and the relation to the annealing of the electrical resistivity in electron irradiated copper is discussed.
